Keeping Children Safe

Safeguarding Pupils

Victoria Primary Academy rigorously support Safeguarding and Child Protection and ensure effective procedures are in place throughout school, some of which are listed below:

Attendance Behaviour
Health and Safety Curriculum
Online Safety (including Social Media)
Safer Recruitment and selection

(Please refer to policies and E-Safety links on the school’s website)

Victoria Primary Academy has a Safeguarding and Child Protection policy in place, to ensure that our school has effective measures in place to safeguard your children from the potential risk of harm. The safety and wellbeing of the children are of the highest priority in all aspects of our school’s work. Having the policy in place ensures that all members of our school are aware of their responsibilities in relation to safeguarding and child protection:

  • Know the procedures that should be followed if they have a cause for concern
  • Know where to go to find additional information regarding safeguarding
  • Are aware of the key indicators relating to child abuse
  • Fully support the school’s commitment to safeguarding and child protection

For further information, please refer to the Safeguarding and Child Protection policy, located in the policy section.

Domestic Violence

We work closely with West Yorkshire Police to support children who live in households where there are incidents of domestic violence and abuse. Confidential information is provided to schools on any incidents of domestic violence and abuse which occur within a child’s household that might have an impact on a child whilst they are in school. Members of the school staff (Miss Dooley and Mrs Broughton), are trained to use the information that has been shared, in confidence, so that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children or their families. At Victoria Primary Academy we aim to offer the best possible support to our children and we believe this is beneficial for all those involved.
