We recognise that a high-quality music education which engages and inspires pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians increases self-confidence, creativity and provides a sense of achievement. Through the Music curriculum, children not only learn about music, they become musicians who are able to share and perform using their new skills. Children will be taught how to perform, listen to, review and evaluate music across a range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions, including the works of the great composers and musicians. Schemes are developed to provide a range of materials from across the ages and around the world.
Music plays a part in the emotional and social development of our children and we are committed to enabling the emotional development of our pupils through musical experiences which include both their opportunities to perform, and to enjoy the performances of others.
