Community Outings with Zest

Parental engagement at its best!
Zest are now working with our community and supporting our parents #wellbeing
The parents have had two sessions this week art and crafting followed by a wellbeing walk and a coffee at Roundhay park. You can tell from the photos they all thoroughly enjoyed it .
Quote from Syretta, the well-being coach.
“Today was a fantastic day it was so simple and relaxed; their inner child came out and they had fun and laughed.”

Magic Breakfast

Victoria Primary Academy is proud be in partnership with Magic Breakfast, providing healthy breakfasts to our pupils so that they are settled and ready to learn. We recognise that school mornings are busy in any household and the time to sit and eat a healthy breakfast can – all too often – run out, with children often choosing not to prioritise eating over the need to do other things before leaving for school. A child who hasn’t eaten since the previous tea time is a HUNGRY child, even if they don’t recognise it!!
We are well aware of the impact of hunger on a child and are fully committed to ensuring that no child is too hungry to learn. Magic Breakfast provides our Victoria Primary Academy community with nutritious breakfast food to ensure children start their school day in the best possible way. Breakfast gives children the energy needed for the busy school morning, enabling them to focus on their lessons.

Food choices include toast, bagels, a range of cereals and juice each day. We know that children are much more likely to eat foods they wouldn’t try at home in the company of their friends – so breakfast club is especially suitable for your child if they are a fussy eater!

Here at Victoria Primary Academy, a large number of pupils attend Breakfast Club from 7.30am every morning. As well as eating a healthy and nutritious breakfast with their friends, children enjoy the wide range of activities which are available each day, and enjoy checking in with warm and welcoming adults who are keen to engage them in some good fun before the formal school day begins. From 8.30am, pupils move into their classroom where learning officially begins. Children are eager to be the first to arrive in class each morning and learning begins swiftly with set routines allowing us to get going with classroom learning half an hour earlier than most schools.

With opportunities to play and be social, build relationships with key adults, participate in early bird activities AND get ahead with learning – Breakfast Club is so much more than eating breakfast!

The Community Pantry @ Victoria Primary Academy

Our Community Pantry is in place to support the Victoria Academy community.

The project was set up in 2023. The Leeds Irish Centre (York Road) helped us to set-up by donating money to stock it. Since then, we have more community projects helping us with filling the pantry so that Victoria Primary Academy Community can enjoy basic food supplies for free. Give a Gift charity provides weekly food for some of our parents and Councillors Ashgar Khan and Luke Farley also gave school a generous donation. Thank you to Councillors Ashgar Khan and Luke Farley on behalf of our families and school community for your generous donation. This has helped school to continue to provide much needed food for our community pantry. Another huge thank you to Give a Gift charity for helping us to support our school community with your weekly donations of food. This is very much appreciated.

The Community Pantry is open on a Thursday morning (8:30 8.45 am) and a Thursday afternoon (3:15pm – 3.30pm). If you need to access the pantry at another time, please just ask a member of the office staff, Mrs Wathen or Miss Dooley who you can usually find on a morning outside the school house.
