One of our central missions is to ensure every child can ‘Be the best you can be’. We want to promote this by helping our pupils learn about the wider world and the exciting opportunities waiting for them. Celebrating our annual Career Week is a wonderful way to boost these aspirations. Throughout this week, we asked the children a simple but exciting question: “What do you want to be when you grow up?”. We wanted to show them that a career isn’t just a job, but a way to use their unique talents to do something they love while helping the world.
To help bring these ideas to life, we have welcomed some incredible sports personalities and guest speakers who warmly shared their personal journeys. These visits have had such a positive impact that many of our foundation lessons now start by exploring different job opportunities. This directly connects our daily classroom learning, continuing this journey within our lessons.
Across the school, the children have also taken part in hands-on workshops designed to broaden their horizons. Years 1 and 2 explored their imagination in “Design & Build!” workshops, Years 3 and 4 got busy as “Creative Chefs!” and Years 5 and 6 delved into the wonders of “Discovery
& Science!”. They learned about “Helping” careers that keep us safe and “Discovery” careers that ask “why” and “how” to uncover the secrets of our universe.
Through interactive games, workshops and talks, our pupils discovered that everyone’s role is a vital piece of the puzzle that makes our community work. Most importantly, they learned that you don’t need a cape to have a superpower. By matching their natural interests to real-world roles, they saw how their own gifts can shape their futures.
